Cobourg Saxons Rugby is pleased to announce partnership with Challenger Sports, providers of North America’s most popular soccer camp, to host a week long British Soccer camp - July 31st - August 4th at Westwood Park Rugby Fields, 665 Carlisle St, Cobourg, ON, K9A 4J7.

Each child will be coached by a member of Challenger’s British coaching staff flown into Canada exclusively to work on these programs. This year Challenger will hold over 3,000 Camps this summer and will coach over 140,000 players between the ages of 3 and 18, as well as completing FREE coach education clinics for over 40,000 parents and coaches.

Challenger’s British Soccer Camps are more than a week of drills and skills. In addition to taking part in a daily regimen of skill development (through the newly developed curriculum), technical and tactical practices and daily ‘World Cup’ tournament style plays, each child will be treated to a rich cultural experience and lessons on respect, responsibility, integrity, leadership and sportsmanship.

Each camp is custom built to meet the needs of your players so Challenger will be directed by Cobourg Saxons Rugby Club on the content of the camp that they require and each camper will receive a FREE camp T-shirt & Rugby ball.

Saxons Secure Ontario Trillium Grant

In 2013 Mike Killoran and Don Maillet submitted an Ontario Trillium Application for the Cobourg Saxons. The application outlined the need to purchase new equipment to successfully launch the second phase of our minor rugby program. The application also requested funding to help purchase a scrum machine and rucking pads, equipment that would help our junior and senior teams remain competitive in the Toronto Rugby Union. The equipment, except for the scrum machine, has been in use since the second half of the 2014 season. The scrum machine is in storage and will be in use when we beginning using our new pitch at Westwood Park. The saxons would like to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Mike Killoran and Don Maillet.
